Sun & Age Spots

As we age, genetics and sun exposure catches up with us all, leaving what are commonly referred to as sunspots or age spots. In reality, these spots can appear on the skin in almost any area of our body. The good news is that modern laser technology can remove these spots, and restore a more youthful appearance to the face, hands, or any other part of your body where you want to permanently eliminate unsightly sunspots or age spots.

Where Do They Come From?

These usually darker tan, brown, or black spots, of varying sizes, most commonly appear on the face, hands, shoulders, upper back and arms. These spots are typically harmless and are actually areas where higher concentrations of skin pigment have developed due to sun exposure and genetic factors. For example, if your parents have sunspots, then you will more likely have them too, even if you have diligently protected your skin from sun damage by doing all of the right things to avoid damaging UV rays. The fact is the sun’s rays reduce our skin’s natural ability to repair itself. As it tries to repair the damaged areas, a pigment called melanin is secreted to help the body protect your skin from further damage creating these spots.
