Dr. Joseph M. Dai III graduated from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Denver and completed his residency in dermatology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, Texas. He most recently provided medical and surgical dermatology services to the Four Corners region in Durango, Colorado.
His prior military experience includes serving as chief of dermatology and the Medical Specialties Clinic at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, home to the 101st Airborne Division and 5th Special Forces Group. He also served in the same role at the Ireland Army Health Clinic at Fort Knox, Kentucky, home to the U.S. Bullion Depository. During his time as an Army dermatologist, he served as an assistant professor of dermatology at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He also served one combat tour as a battalion flight surgeon with the 101st Airborne Division in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Superior Unit Citation, numerous Army Commendation Medals, the Expert Field Medical Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge. He also has qualifications in air assault and flight surgery.
Dr. Dai is board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology and among the first in the nation to be double board-certified in both dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society of Mohs Surgery, and the Association of Military Dermatologists.
Dr. Dai is passionate about dermatology, Mohs surgery, and spending time educating and treating his patients. Patients know their skin health truly matters to him, and he will take the time to ensure all their dermatology needs are met.
Dr. Dai’s life revolves around his wife, son, and three daughters, as well as their two Great Danes. His interests include skiing, shooting, and fitness. He has participated in numerous marathons and triathlons, including the Bataan Memorial Death March and Ironman Western Australia.
