Microneedling With PRP
Looking for a practical and minimally-invasive way to reverse the visible effects of aging and the overall appearance of your skin? Then we invite you to learn more about microneedling with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma).
What Is Microneedling With PRP?
Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) with PRP restores and rejuvenates your skin by using your body’s own growth factors to aid in the creation of collagen, elastin, hydration and evening out its texture, tone and elasticity. During this minimally invasive procedure, our team uses a handheld derma pen to make tiny punctures in the skin, creating thousands of tiny micro-injuries, described by most as little pinpricks, that encourage the body’s healing ability to produce new, healthy skin. This advanced technique was specifically designed to stimulate your body’s natural growth factors to help aid with the creation of new collagen and elastin to begin to improve the overall quality and texture of your skin.
And, when combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, your body’s healing response gets a boost when it comes to accelerating your recovery and helping you achieve healthier, smoother and glowing skin.
What Is PRP & Where Does It Come From?
PRP actually comes from the serum portion of our own blood, which contains platelets. These platelets contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors, which are very important for healing injuries, especially to the surface layers of the skin. In other words, the serum portion of our blood, hyper-concentrated with these growth factors, essentially becomes an energy booster for our skin. The results: an increase in everything from collagen and elastin production to delivering highly beneficial antioxidant and hydrating properties to our skin.
How Do We Get Your PRP & What Do We Use It For?
The day of your procedure, our team will take a sample of your blood and then run it through a centrifuge here at the spa to separate the platelet-rich plasma from your blood. The PRP collected from your blood sample will then be applied topically and massaged into the treated area of skin following the completion of your treatment to promote recovery and new skin cell growth.
What Can Microneedling Do For Your Skin?
- Reduce acne scarring and/or other facial scarring
- Improve uneven pigmentation
- Eliminate and minimize fine lines and wrinkles
- Help minimize sun damage and lighten age spots
- Reduce the appearance of larger pores
- Smooth and improve your skin’s overall texture
- Increases your skin’s overall radiance and glow
- Reduce and eliminate crepey skin on hands, neck and decolletage
As for recovery, it might take a day or two of downtime before you feel like returning to work or your normal routine, all depending on how aggressive your treatment was on your skin. You'll emerge from treatment a bit red, almost like a sunburn, which means post-procedure sunscreen is a must.
Who Is A Candidate?
Because the depth of the needle can be adjusted to your individual needs and the PRP therapy is derived from your own blood, we find that most adults are good candidates for microneedling with PRP.
