What Does A Facial Do? And, What To Expect.
A professional facial is designed not just to help you relax, but to help improve your skin. They are customized treatments for your face, neck and décolleté that can help prevent and treat many common skin problems. Plus, they are a great way to help maintain a clear, well-hydrated complexion – not to mention create that healthy glow and more youthful appearance we all desire. Ask any aesthetician and they will tell you that a facial is a wonderful addition to anyone’s skin care routine.
Here are some of the added benefits a facial has to offer your skin:
- Boost collagen production
- Remove dead skin cells
- Improve the appearance of fine lines and blemishes
- Clear your pores
- Moisturize and hydrate
Facials are the number one treatment performed by most aestheticians, and a good way for our Aqua Medical Spa team to get an in-depth understanding of your skin prior to recommending other types of treatments. For most people, facials are ideally scheduled every four weeks, although our aestheticians may recommend a different schedule based on your skins needs, your overall goals and the type of facial you are getting.
How Should You Prepare For A Facial?
Be sure to give yourself enough time to complete our comprehensive intake form prior to your treatment. Also, always take the time to share any products you’re currently using and any skin concerns you may have with your aesthetician before your facial begins. This is by far the best way to help ensure the results you want and avoid irritating your skin during or after your facial. Preparing for a wedding or special event? Here’s a tip: don’t schedule your facial for the day before. It’s best to book a facial at least a few days before. Why? Because this will give your skin the time it needs to fully achieve the restorative and rejuvenating benefits from your recent facial – and truly be at its best. Plus, plan to arrive a little early so you will not feel rushed and can enjoy every minute of your facial.
And remember, there is no need to remove your makeup prior to your facial, as it will be completely cleansed from you skin and pores during your facial.
How Do You Care For Your Skin After A Facial?
After a facial, your skin will probably be soft, smooth and well hydrated. However, post-treatment breakouts and irritation are possible if multiple extractions were needed or if you required a fair amount of exfoliation. That’s why it is important to always follow your aesthetician’s specific instructions to help you minimize any redness or blemishes following your facial.
What About Maintaining Your Skin In Between Facials?
Our aestheticians will go over which professional skin care products we recommend to help you continue to improve and maintain your healthiest skin following your facial. We will also make sure you are using products specifically formulated to maximize the benefits and prolong the effects of your facial. For us, it’s all about helping you create that healthy glow and maintaining your very best skin.
