School’s out and summer is almost here – that means more time outdoors and more time in the heat for most of us. That’s exactly why I want everyone to give some thought to making sure we are all protecting our skin from the sun and keeping it hydrated and glowing all summer long now that we’re revealing even more of it. Here are some tips from all of us at Aqua Medical Spa for maintaining your best skin and summer glow.
Exfoliate. Exfoliate. Exfoliate.
Take the time to exfoliate your skin every morning before applying your toner, moisturizer, SPF or makeup. We all know it’s a great way to remove that dead and dull skin and recapture that glowing smooth skin we all love. Not to mention, your makeup will last a whole lot longer when you exfoliate your skin before applying it.
Why Not Try A Few Spa Treatments?
Remember, this is the perfect time of year for facials or a microdermabrasion to help rejuvenate your skin and remove those dry, dead skin cells, to help you get your glow on. And, let’s not forget, this is a great time for body waxing too!
Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate.
Hydration is essential to maintaining your healthy skin year-round but becomes even more important in the summer. We can all start by making sure we’re hydrating our bodies from the inside out by drinking plenty of water, even more so when you’re in the sun. Plus, we offer some great proven products for hydrating your skin and keeping that natural glow. Or, treat yourself to one of our custom blend facials for that extra moisture boost or a calming and rejuvenating mask.
Protect. Protect. Protect.
This one’s easy, make sure you cover up with a sunscreen with SPF of 30 or higher. Remember to reapply generously every 2 hours or more often if swimming or sweating. We offer some great sunscreen products, like Blue Lizard®, TIZO® and a variety of Obagi® skin protection products, with built-in SPF. Also, try limiting your exposure to sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the UV rays are the strongest. Plus, it sure helps to throw on a wider brim hat to keep the sun from dulling your glow.
Okay. So You Got A Little Burnt – Now What?
Make sure you treat that damaged skin with a cooling gel to help soothe and reduce your redness. Products containing aloe vera are great for this because they have an almost instant cooling effect on the skin and are perfect for after sun moisturizing too.
